Call issues

Had my DInc for a few days now and am having a problem with in-coming calls. On VZW and live in an extended service area. Unless I shut off the data capabilities of the phone, all my incoming calls go directly to voicemail. The only apps I have added are Amazon Kindle, Directv and SMS Popup, so I don't think these are the issued. Anyone have an idea of why I seem to be constantly connected to data and can't receive calls? Any help is greatly appreciated.
