I might add that Boldbeast isn't an app I can recommend to any Note 8 user. It works most of the time but will fail at random saying I have another recording app running, which I don't (many others reporting the same issue). Then, on top of that and MANY other issues I was having (like LOTS of other N8 users), the developer's response to any issues is to just say that it "works perfectly" on the Note 8. He basically makes it sound like every single person having issues is an ***** and if they can't get his problematic app to work, it's their fault. On top of all this, he called me a liar. I happen to have screenshots of every single issue I have with the app to prove the issues. I wish I'd never paid the $10 for it. Might have to try the SKVALEX app.

It records EVERY call. Except when I use speakerphone. Every, single call...it flat out records them. Done. Try it for free for 2 weeks.

I have a theory as to why SKVALEX works and others don't. But I'm not going to bring it up because I don't wanna ruin a good thing! lol!

used Automatic Call Recorder Pro for a while but it was wonky on my s8+ so switched to "total recall" and it seems to be working fine for me on the N8 too. (typically im recording on bluetooth)

note, just double checked a few recordings and its been working perfectly

I use a BT headset much of the time for calls. Have you used a BT headset for any calls and if so, do they record both sides clearly?

Yes...BT works. Again, you can simply try it out for 2 weeks and see for yourself if it works for ya. I have a Garmin GPS in my car with BT and it recorded both sides perfectly. My last Call Recorder app never did BT.

Would love to hear your theory, but anyway, it works for me even on speaker, and any Bluetooth device. Hands down the best call recorder ever, would be lost without it.

Sorry, I need to clarify the speakerphone thing...it records on speakerphone with no issues. The issue begins when you use the mute button on the Note8. This is well documented in the posts above and others have confirmed the same issue. The call continues recording but when the mute button is pressed, it mutes the other side, not just your side. I contacted the dev and he doesn't know why but he has an S8 (I think) and doesn't have this issue. I got it to work fine the first time I used speakerphone and muted the call but after that it won't do it. So if it does work, try it a few more times and it most likely won't, at least that's been my experience.

I'll keep my theory to myself, it probably isn't anything but like I said, I'm not gonna bring light to it. lol! So mum's the word...

OK, I finally installed SKVALEX recorder app to give it a try. Worked fine on one test call so I'll see over the next couple of weeks.

BUT, I can't get the cloud sync function to work because it never signs into the account. I want to sync to Google Drive and choose that, then choose the account, tap ok but it never signs in. Is this a limitation of the trial version? Does anyone else use this feature that can chime in?

It depends on the state. Some states require both parties to be aware of the recording while other states require only one person to be aware.

Or just keep making a beep sound throughout your call and if they say anything just explain you're recording the call. LOL!!!!!

As king said, some states need only one party to know the call is being recorded, which would obviously be you. I'm in NJ, a one party state. I've recorded every call since my old LG flip phones (in the 90's), which had call recorders built in.

Whatever the issue was with getting SKVALEX recorder app to work with Google Drive, worked itself out in the next day or two.

The app has worked flawlessly and recorded every single call clearly. I'll be paying for it in a couple days when my free trial is up. It has a much nicer interface than the crappy Boldbeast app, too.

I've used Automatic Call Recorder Pro on all the Notes I've had (3, 4, 5, 7 & now 8) with no problem, until I went to listen to a call I recorded yesterday. Extremely annoyed that it only recorded my voice.....on SOME calls.

Can't for the life of me figure out any pattern. Sometimes works w/speaker on, sometimes not. Sometimes works with headphones, sometimes not. Etc.

Googled a bit to see if anyone else was having issues & a found a topic on xda that went back several months. Someone said that Nougat 7.1.1 has a bug that's causing this (checked my N5 & it has 7.0, N8 has 7.1.1).

Someone else recommended Call Recorder - ACR. Giving that a shot now. There do seem to be less calls of only my voice. Pretty certain that the other party is consistently not recorded on speaker phone, but need more time to play with it and look for patterns. Gonna be calling a lot of Pizzerias tonight and ask when they close, lol!

I was kind of feeling the same way about the area of origin of this app! I did try the trial and it did work great, where other apps are NOT recording both sides of the conversation! I had this one
Call Recorder By lovekara.... but totally stopped recording the other side of the conversation when I switched from Note 4 to Note 8!
It worked perfectly on my Note 4

What kind of permissions does this require?? Not trying to be Mr. Conspiracy, just kind of scary considering where this is being developed...

Reviving this thread to find out if anyone with a N8 that has updated to Pie, has the Skvalex call recorder working. I'm on VZW and don't have the Pie update yet and am considering staying on Oreo if call recording won't work on Pie.

I'm on AT&T with Pie and it still works. I honestly don't review my calls much so don't check record quality before and after but seems the same.

Thanks for the input. I had read or heard somewhere that call recording was going to be impossible with Android Pie. Hopefully, someone on VZW will chime in because I know the carrier could also prevent call recording if they so desired, with their build of Pie.
