Your preference? Do you prefer 4:3 @ 12.3 megapixels or 16:9 @ 8.3 megapixels?

Which is more important to you, screen aspect ratio or megapixels?

I shoot at 4:3. You capture more information (higher MP) and it is more consistent with DSLR, which is 3:2. I find it easy to crop to a 16:9 later if I want.

I use 16:9 for taking pictures of receipts, for expense reports, and 4:3 for everything else.

Off topic, but you should try CamScanner for that purpose. Allows for autocropping to the document's borders, plus adjust perspective to correct for angle (and allows for OCR).

I love camscanner. Makes easy work of my receipts when traveling for business.

But yes, photos I always shoot in 4:3 since I can always crop later. Shooting in 16:9 actually gives you less data from a photo to work with.

I bet the new PhotoScan will be good for this as well. Going to check it out for my next scan. I have not used CamScanner before. May have to add that to the list as too.

Photoscan is geared toward scanning photos. Camscanner is more designed for documents and receipts. Two different things.

Two different intents, but having used PhotoScan, it should work perfectly for receipts. I hate app clutter so if I can do it with 1 app, I generally will.

That said, I will check out CamScanner to see if it offers any advantages.

Can also just use Google drive for this, it has a scanner built in.
