Camera app randomly turning on

My camera seems to randomly turn on while my phone is doing nothing. It would be sitting on my desk charging and the camera app will open.
I have the active button turned off/ I'm not even touching the phone when the camera activates.

Any thoughts as to What's causing this?

Do you have a case on the phone? maybe it is double-clicking the home button (if it covers it).

Did you take it underwater lately? Maybe there is a short in the buttons. You may want to start disabling some apps that have access to the camera and may launch it.

Otherwise, you may need to take it into ATT service (backup everything!).

Sadly don't have a case and haven't used it underwater recently. It's completely baffling.
