Had no idea that a long press on the auto focus icon in the camera app enabled focus lock. For those out there who don't know of it, give it a try. Especially useful in low light when autofocus is shaky.

What icon would that be? I have an HDR icon and a Timer icon, then the shutter down on the bottom, along with the camera/video, and the camera switcheroo. I don't see an auto focus icon.

IIRC, it was introduced with a camera update to the Moto X Pure Edition.

Yes it was. I just happened to enable it by accident and was pleasantly surprised.
