Camera Glitch

My Android Acer A500 camera was working perfectly until today. Whenever I go to take a picture, whether using the back or front camera, I cannot see the usual preview of what I'm taking a picture of. The screen is just black. However, when I take the picture, the screen is still black but when I go to the gallery I see the picture there, normal and everything. This happens with both front and back cameras. I've checked the Settings of the camera and haven't found anything to do with the option for the camera to preview the surroundings. Any idea what's wrong with it or what to do?
