If you don't mind my asking, how long have you had your phone? Purple haze issue is unfortunately a common and well documented hardware failure involving a burned out sensor from using the Zoe feature. You can contact HTC and they will fix it for you if you're willing to be without your phone for a week or so.

Full black screen when camera app is opened. No, nothing is covering the camera aperture as such. The buttons of the settings are also not clickable plus the default camera app closes after few seconds automatically. Have also tried using other camera applications but even in them all i see is a black screen. Could this be a hardware issue ? because even factory reset and trying of different ROMs have not resulted in any good.

Your provider should replace it under warranty. HTC will also but they want you to send them the phone first.
