Camera Lens Cover Cracked, Camera will not focus before/after replacement

So I suffered the random glass cover shattering over my rear camera. I removed all the remenants of glass and the camera seemed to be working fine. Today I tried taking a picture and it will not focus at all. Even tappng to focus, produces the focus circle. but the preview and and pictures I take come out blurry.

Is there another lense between the camera itself and the light grey chassis itself? Or is the camera self contained and doen't need any external lenses to function properly?

Just trying to figure out what I need to do to fix this.

Welcome to Android Central! Most smartphone cameras have a motorized autofocus mechanism, so it's possible for this to fail. That might be what happened to your phone. If the phone isn't under warranty (or if the problem was related to accidental damage), then you could look into replacing the camera module itself.
