Camera live view slow when in well lit environment but black surface

Why is it when in a well lit environment but there is a black surface, my cameras live view gets really slow and picture get all blurry?

Which device? What do you mean by live view -- the realtime image in the viewfinder?

Some cameras in auto think a dark surface means it's dark outside and will have trouble focusing and/or use goofy camera settings.

My thinking as well. Your camera is getting confused and using a really slow shutter speed, which causes the apparent lag in live view.

Does the resulting photo look overly bright?
