Camera module making noise...

Dropped my phone on my carpet. A real fluffy carpet and the S20U5G had a case on it too. Anyway now when the phone shakes back and forth I can hear the camera module making noise. Has to do with the zoom function because when I enter camera mode that noise goes away. Whatever is making that noise is related to the camera and zoom functions since soon as the camera turns on power goes to the zoom parts and stops the noise. Soon as the camera is turned off, it releases anything that the power was holding and lets the camera inerds move all over the place.

And the entire camera module that sticks right out of the back is bad.

It not the first camera module that sticks out. That's why I have the UAG Monarch case which recesses the module. I've actually dropped mine a couple of times with no damage.

As for your situation, you might be able to get it exchanged even though you dropped it if there is no cosmetic damage.

What I'm saying there should not be ANY problems or noise coming from the camera. It already had a drop proof case on it, dropped only 3 or 4 feet onto a push carpet. I can't say for sure that the noise was not there or not.
All S20 Ultra users try this. Turn off your camera and shake it back and forth to see if hear any noise coming from your camera module. I would not think Samsung would keep a mechanical piece flopping all around in there so I'm thinking something came loose or it just isn't made right. Glad I did not send my Note10+ back.

It is actually perfectly normal. Everyone is the same, part of the OIS, which is why it doesn't make noise when using the camera.

I hear a tiny clicking so if that's what you hear then you're probably OK and as another pointed out it's probably the OIS. Makes sense because I have DSLR s that do that.

As for drop proof cases they only help prevent scratches, dents or cracks in glass. Any drop can cause internal damage but it less likely in a carpeted situation as you describe.
