Camera: Moto X Style camera vs LG G4?

I think we will find out in about two and a half weeks when the phone start being delivered and hits the retail stores and reviewers and consumers get it in their hands.

We will see, but I think it's likely unrealistic to expect the new moto x to be better than the G4. But there are certainly good reasons to choose moto if you value the user experience other than the camera.

The one review I read had it slightly behind the Note 4. Didn't compare it to the G4, though. I hope that's the case. This will be a monster phone if that's true.

I misspoke. It was slightly behind the S6 and tied with the Note 4!

I also saw some great pictures from Michelle Gattuso, a Moto exec, on G+.

The Note 4 camera is fantastic (IMHO). If the new moto X is as good as the note 4 in practice then I will be thrilled. Although the note 4 does have OIS.

The Note 4 camera is fantastic (IMHO). If the new moto X is as good as the note 4 in practice then I will be thrilled. Although the note 4 does have OIS.

It also appears to be faster than the Note 4 in launching the camera app itself. That's a huge plus.

My Note 4 took just a bit to long to open.

Yeah, I saw those late last week. They looked great. Lots of detail and you could zoom in pretty far. And these were obviously uploaded to G+, which may or may not have compressed them some. I wasn't disappointed at all in them.

The DXOMark link I posted seemed to allude to some of that. The OIS may help the Note 4 in some situations, but it seemed like the Moto X held its own pretty well without it.

That to me is almost the number one thing - getting to the camera as quickly as possible. The Moto X is so fast and easy with that. My Nexus 6 takes so long to open up and get ready for a picture. It takes solid pictures once it's open, but man getting an almost 3 year old to sit for that 8 seconds before you can actually snap the picture is impossible. Makes those 8 seconds seem like the glaciers are moving at light speed.
