Loving my P4XL and its camera. However, I'm so used to on every phone I've owned to have an list of camera resolution options.

All we get now are:
  • Full Resolution
  • Medium resolution (Uses less storage)

What's up with that? How does one know what resolution is the camera taking?

One knows by checking the picture metadata (unfortunately, after the fact). But yeah, now that mApple just included that option on their phones, Pixel 4 owners are kinda poking fun at it because of the options you do have. But hey, it could be worse! You could have no options at all, like myPhones did until recently.

Based on what Google has done in other services, their user metrics showed that very few people bothered to touch the settings. So they tossed in generic options that they wouldn't have to change based on the capabilities of the phones camera

Also keep in mind that there are two cameras with different resolutions. By taking this route, they don't overwhelm users with complicated settings that may cause odd behavior.

The full resolution, medium resolution thing kinda set me back for a second. Though I will say it is obvious which setting to choose.

I always use the highest setting possible, but this threw me back a bit because I'm so used to seeing a list option actual options. Not this generic choices.
