Hey everyone,
I've upgraded from the S8+ and find that the camera is quite grainy on the S10+ compared to the S8+. Any tips?

Thanks
Mel

I'm in the same boat, everyone says my XR takes way better pictures.. I'm thinking I may have a setting wrong

Cam camera is def below the Xs Max and way below the Mate 20 Pro and the Pixel 3.

But it's still an adequate shooter and the wide angle lens is very useful. Front can is great though - takes fantastic selfies

S8+ vs S10+
The faded dull shot is the S8.

Hi Mel,

I've found the same - my s7 Edge had clearer/sharper images. I took it into Samsung today and they said it was because it was capturing more, that it wasn't an issue. I don't quite agree.

Yeah I don't agree either. Surely it should be more crisp than the S8 which was 2 models ago?x

I had the S8 and traded it in for a credit. When I got my S10, I compared photo quality in low light and normal light and I found the S10 to be far superior to the S8. It may not have the best low light camera on the market (pixels do), but it's not a huge thing for me personally. If you want a superior low light camera on a phone, get the pixel. Other than that, S10 destroys the pixel in every other regard.

Here's an S10 photo I took in complete darkness on auto. Only light is the bulbs and TV. Fine by me. And way better than S8.

I've reset my camera settings to the default that came with the phone and turned off all additional features and it seems to be more crisper now. Let me know if you have found the same?

Thanks
Mel

What all did you turn off exactly? Thanks!

Hi Mel,

I did the same, on advice of Samsung, found it only helped it slightly.
Went into the Samsung store again today and was told to turn off the scene optimiser function. I purchased the phone for the camera, as I've got two young children. The Samsung guy was saying that the baby scene optimiser is probably trying to bring it a lot of the scene, which then compromises the subject. Since turning it off, images have improved only slightly. Very hit and miss.

As I discovered in another thread, the standard camera settings on the S10+ are extremely overexposed.

Similarly, the portrait mode on the selfie camera does this weird thing where objects in the foreground become way more blurry than when the same pic is taken without portrait mode.

It's strange, and in terms of image processing is almost inferior to other, even cheaper phones.

I also didn't particularly see an improvement from the S9+ that justifies the depth sensor on the front. I think I would've rather have just taken the additional screen real estate of only having a single lens...

my photos from my s10e are a bit better than my s8 and video is wayyyyy better on the s10e.

4k looks amazing on the s10e where my s8 for some reason took grainy 4k footage

Whats Your Thoughts About the s10+ Camera ?

I Bought the s10+ and I was expecting a great camera but I ended up a bit disappointed, dont get me wrong its good but in some occasions my old s6 edge like in a room with normal light pictures on the s6 where better ! , as a Ratio Im using 9:16 .. Maybe Thats The reason its not doing well ?
