Camera ratio settings annoy me

So I just got my XL, jumping from a Microsoft 950XL. I love the camera but there is one thing that annoys me. I have to change to 16:9 manually when taking a horizontal image. I'm used to the camera changing mode automatically when switching from horizontal to vertical. Am I being picky?

I wouldn't call you picky. But I am an average users. *shrug* Why would the phone not default to 16:9 when the phone is in landscape mode?

Because the sensor is 4x3. If you want all of its pixels, you shoot in that aspect ratio.

You can select 16x9 if you want, but it is only a crop (which you can easily do in post).

Alright I didn't know that. Surprised that was a thing. Will tinker with full resolution then
