Question Camera stuck in portrait mode

Hi all,

I'm running Android 12 on a motorola edge 5G UW and having an issue in which my phone's camera app refuses to adjust to take photos/video in landscape orientation. Below is a screenshot of what it does instead.



I've been through all the different camera modes and settings, but can't get it to work correctly. I've spent hours trying to track down a solution to this. The closest I've come is this post on the Samsung community forums:

This is what happens if I try to use camera in landscape mode! Works fine in portrait. Any suggestions as to cause would be much appreciated.

I tried clearing my camera app's cache as suggested in that thread. I also went through all of my installed apps to try to track down anything that would be forcing my camera to only use portrait orientation and can't find a solution.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Just downloaded a third party camera app too, just to see if it would behave differently. It too will only do portrait orientation photos. I'm really stumped here. I feel like the solution is going to be stupidly simple, but I can't seem to find it .

Try clearing the camera app data then force stop it

If it still happens try safe mode and if it still continues uninstall the camera app update.

Try a Power Off & Restart.
