Many of us who are Lumia users will be familiar with AAWP’s comparisons. Here’s a very brief one: Camera comparison: Nokia 9 PureView vs Lumia 950

As a Lumia 1020 user I’ve been hoping that the 9 might prove a worthy photographic successor, but I still find that hard to judge from what camera samples I’ve seen. I suspect that the 9’s camera would certainly be better in some respects, most notably dynamic range. The rest is as yet uncertain at this early stage.

Uh oh I still have my Lumia 1020 too. I'll have to look at this when I get home. But a huge thing which this phone is touted for will be unmatched by any phone and that is the depth mapping. It's no surprise that this particular aspect is not tested against the 950 but Steve usually does some great in depth comparisons.

There is nothing in that comparison that convinces me either way. The guy just walked out on to his driveway and took a few poorly composed snaps and pixel peeped them.

Not a very good comparison at all IMO.

I still have a working Lumia 950 and Lumia 1020. Maybe I should do my own comparison when I finally get my Nokia 9

Yeah I'm still waiting for my man Juan Bagnell's take but I see both benefits and downsides to some omissions made by HMD. I need more reviews though.

Yeah I like his camera reviews. Very thorough.

Based on the photo samples from users on Instagram so far it looks like it's quite the beast of a camera, but more if you have at least some knowledge of photography.

Exactly. I'm tempted to get back on Instagram as that's the most updated medium for photos using hashtags it seems. Twitter is ok but I know there's much more content on Instagram.

Agreed. I'm not getting anything like the grain that he's showing there. Also, if you look at the first pic of the car, there is much more detail in the shot from the Pureview than there is in the 950.

Yeah I think the average Joe may be disappointed in low light with lack of OIS or one of those fancy night modes but that's where knowledge of photography comes in handy. And you compensate with a tripod any time it's possible. Same goes with the V30. I've heard so many people trash the camera just because it isn't the best in auto mode. If you shoot in manual and know what you're doing, you can achieve some incredible results.

Yes, please do. I used to post photo comparisons with my 1020 whenever I got a new phone. None could ever quite match it for detail in heavy crops, though it was not necessarily superior in other respects.
My specimen is difficult to use reliably now because of the infamous camera screech and uncertain stabilisation.

I'll try to do a comparison. Good chance I'll have to do my initial photo impressions from work as I'm due to receive my Nokia 9 right before I start a work cycle. I hope you guys don't mind pictures of airplanes lol.

Ooh I love pictures of airplanes.

Thanks to the links you provided I was still able to do a hashtag search without logging in. Here's some faves I found. These are screenshots of course but you get the idea. This camera system is gonna be just fine.

Ok so after going back and actually reading the article I see that the pictures aren't even Steve's but a fan of the site. Too many variables to really get an in depth analysis in that scenario.

Yep. You would have to know that it's someone that really knows how to use this camera and from what I saw whoever took those pics clearly did not. I'm getting nice photos at duck with mine.

Yes, that’s why I said a quick, very brief look. It was in fact a comparison of very little value, but perhaps marginally better than none at all.

Did the L950 win by a considerable margin by any chance? It'a forgone conclusion with Steve
