Can anyone help clarify reported dimensions

I'm really interested in doing the very impractical thing and trading in my S24U but I'm not clear regarding reported phone width vs display width. I know they're reporting the display size increases to 6.9" from 6.8" but that seems to be mostly related to the obvious increase in phone height.

I traded my Z Fold 3 for this device so I enjoyed a HUGE increase in display size in comparison to the outer display of the ZF3 so I don't want to go backwards.

I'm hoping the actual display width is the same but the <2 mm difference is due to less frame material surrounding the bezel + the bezel itself being reduced around the entire display, namely the sides.

Hopefully my question makes sense

I have been wondering this myself, apparently going from 6.79 to 6.86 to be exact but I would also like to know if it's actually more screen real-estate or just a change in aspect ratio?

According to gsmarena there is an update and there is in fact more screen real-estate I believe it's at 116.9 mm square and S24 was around 113 or so

I don't think this specifically gives the dimensions for display only?

It states 6.9" but the phone is taller, and I believe that's just measuring from corner to corner.

So, the big question is, will the display itself be the same width as the S24U? We know the reported dimensions for the height and width of the entire phone, but they're not clear about the H x W of the display.

From Samsung Shop app, S25U specs:

Resolution (Main Display)
3120 x 1440 (Quad HD+)
Main Display Size
174.2mm (6.9" full rectangle) / 172.2mm (6.8" rounded corners)

Very true there is more screen but we just don't know the actual width, I thought i remember hearing it was but will try to find the source of that

I honestly don't think you (OP) or anyone else will be able to tell if it's slightly shorter in the width of the screen and NO WAY will it seem like you're going back to the Z Fold3.

if the display rectangle's diagonal is greater (which it is), then the height or width must be greater. If the diagonal is greater and the aspect ratio is the same (which it is), then both the height and width must be greater.

Certainly not, but my point was all along that I'm curious because my hope is that we don't lose any display width, because I'm still paying $400 to upgrade and would like to know. It's crazy how they don't give these specs.

Reduced bezels and the frame being a different shape/thinner metal surrounding the sides are factors that would contribute towards a reduction in the overall width of the phone, but again, I don't see where this states the actual display width.

77.6 the 2nd number is the width the 3rd is thickness and first is height

It's a trivial calculation, though.. With a diagonal of 175.26mm and an aspect ration of 19.5:9, the height is 159.13mm and the width is 73.44mm.

Ok not sure if this is accurate but I used 6.79 inches to mm for the S24U and got a width of 72.195 mm so yes it's about 1 mm wider
