I'm wanting to do some very basic editing on a video I made from my X. Really just shortening the video by cutting out some parts of it. Anybody have a good experience with a free app for doing this?

Do you realize the Droid X has a video trimmer built into Gallery, when you open video. hit left button for menu and select edit.

Have you ever used it? I've tried a couple of times and it never actually works. At this point I've decided that I wasn't to add external audio to the video, so I still need to find a stand alone editor.

I used it to send short videos to co-workers, it isn't the best app but its good for a simple clip and send, but if you are looking to add external audio it is not able to do that. I cant think of any free apps for this type of editing.

I use Womble MPEG Video Wizard. It is a frame accurate editor that can export to many other formats. Not free, some learning curve, but the only one (i know of) that can really edit mpeg4 without screwing something up. 30 day fully functional free trial.
Im sure there are others, perhaps free, I'm just a fan of Womble from working with their excellent MPEG2 VCR for slicing and dicing dvds.
