Can Exchange ActiveSync Remote Wipe brick a rooted phone?

I've read all the warnings about not doing a factory reset in settings once the phone is rooted or you'll end up with a brick. Noticed that when setting up an exchange active sync account it asked permission to do a remote wipe/factory reset. If that were to happen to a rooted phone, would the phone end up as a brick?

Looked through the forums, but couldn't see an answer to this question.

Remote wipe is unlikely for me. Given this info, would you recommend that I avoid enabling the exchange account (with associated remote wipe) then or just take the chance?

Not sure if you're looking for a remote wipe solution or if you're just wanting the Exchange account specifically, but if it's the former, Avast has remote wipe support for CM7 specifically / rooted phones. I've set it up but never used the remote wipe feature myself, but it cites Cyanogenmod specifically in the set up process.
