Can HONOR V10 offer USB Host Support

[Android Central Question]

Attached OTG cable to camera, loaded USB Media Explorer app onto the Honor V10, and purchased a USB 3.0 data transfer hub. Yet the app will not find / or acknowledge an OTG Connection nor the USB HUB if I plug the OTG cable into the HUB even with the card reader or an external hard drive plugged into the USB HUB. However, if I plug the card reader or the external hard drive directly into the OTG cable, it will read both. It appears the Honor V10 OS, once plugged in to the hub, automatically defaults / sets the mode to "charge only" mode, and I can't change it (which I believe is the root of the problem). Anyone had a similar experience? Have any advice? My goal while traveling, is to off-load images on SD cards to an external hard drive (as backup) without needing a computer. Suggestions / ideas welcome. Thank your Greg D.

The hub isn't doing OTG. Type C is a little different than microUSB, so the hub has to be designed to carry the OTG through from the cable.

Or, if you're using the hub to connect devices that need a host (keyboard, mouse, camera, plug the OTG cable into the phone, then the hub into the cable (you'll need a Type A hub).

Thank you for responding. Are you saying my problem is the hub, namely it's not designed to handle OTG. Per below, I'm plugging an OTC cable (Male C with 3.0 female end) into the phone. Use a 3.0 Male A (at both ends) transfer cable to plug into the OTC phone cable and then into the AC powered USB 3.0 hub. Does not recognize any device plugged into the USB Hub. Yet if I plug the device (e.g. a flash drive) directly into the OTC cable, the phone recognizes the device and I can read from / write to it.

Depending on how many devices you need to connect (the maximum I've seen is 3, like this one), the one in the link may do it for you. (I have one like that and it works for a mouse, keyboard and USB stick, but not for any device that comes with only Windows drivers.) If you need more than 3 devices, I haven't seen one.
