Can I add a shortcut to the screen on a Moto Z3 for the mobile Hot Spot

[Android Central Question]

I had a Samsung Note 4 and right on my home screen a had a short cut for the mobile
hot spot
I now have a Moto Z3 and the Verizon salesman said I could not create a shortcut .
Is he correct?

Welcome to Android Central! Have you already checked your Quick Settings toggles? Use the Edit option for the Quick Settings to see if there's a Hotspot toggle -- I have it on my Pixel 2 XL.

You should also be able to add the Settings widget to the homescreen, then choose Hotspot. However, on my phone, that only gets you to the system menu for the hotspot, where you then have to toggle it on (so it's not a single-tap toggle).
