Can I choose a particular sound with a certain push notification?

On my S8+, I have a app that sends a push notification. The app is listed among my notifications in my settings. I want to set a custom sound for this notification, can I do this, and how? Thanks.

Only if the app supports custom sounds (and you'd find that in the notification section of that specific app's settings). You can also use a 3rd party app that allows custom notifications on a per-app basis, like LightFlow

Thanks very much. In Settings/Apps/App/Notifications Info for that app, there is an option to Allow Sound, which is enabled. See the screenshot. However, I don't know how to enable a sound for this app.screen18-12-19-09-57-53.jpg

Nope, you're looking in the phone's settings. IF the setting exists, you'd find it in the app itself, not though the phone's settings. On the FB App, for instance, you need to open the app, tap the menu button, scroll down to Settings & Privacy, Settings, and select Notifications Settings in the Notification section, then select PUSH at the very bottom. Most apps don't make this so complicated...

Thanks again! My mistake. The app's settings have no options regarding notifications. The app, LastPass Authenticator, is only to receive push notifications for multi-factor authentication for the LastPass security program.

In that case the only way to customize it is to use a 3rd party app for that (like Lightflow)

Thanks. I installed Lightflow, but it seems that the only sound that I can enable is the default ringtone. I hoped to be able to pick a sound specific to the app notification.

Thanks! It does indeed work perfectly. Maybe I had installed the wrong app or used Lightflow incorrectly. I use the free Legacy version. Great!

If I may ask one question related to push notifications, if I lose or accidentally remove a push notification, is there a way to retrieve it? Are they stored somewhere? Thanks again.

Yes, and no... You can see a history of notifications received, but the contents of that aren't usually there (just a 'you got a GMail notification' or 'You got a text').

You'll need a launcher that supports 'Activities' Widgets like Nova (on Pixel phones I think there's a menu you can access but on Sammy phones you need to take that route). There's a Notification History activity there or something like that.
