Can i encrypt my android through Gmail settings

[Android Central Question]

I have an issue with encrypting my Android device. When I was changing my password I ran across a feature in my Gmail account that says that my device can be encrypted through my Gmail. Is this true? If so I would like to know how I can do it, for I have not been able to find that feature or setting in my Gmail since at first.

Maybe it's to encrypt Gmail , I never heard Gmail to encrypt the device
