Can i get my pictures back?

[Android Central Question]

I Have a galaxy s9 updated to android pie last week, just noticed today that my secure folder is empty! everything I secured in it from last 2 years has vanished! tried to restore but it says nothing to restore! but i'm confused as to why my pics have vanished in the first place? where did they go and why?
