Help analyzing Battery life (with Gsam Battery)

Hi all,
Still new to the forum so please go easy on me!

I've had my HTC One M8 for a few months now and 3 days ago decided to fully customize it. I downloaded UCCW, Desktop Visualizer, Multilive Wallpaper, Nova Launcher, an Icon pack and customized it completely. However, after I started using it with NiLs notification lockscreen, I noticed my battery would drain EXTREMELY fast, for example from Unplug (7am) to 4pm, battery would hit 20%, meaning 80% drained in 9 hours...which is pretty terrible.

So I uninstalled NILs notification after reading it's a battery drainer and installed GSam Battery to monitor my battery. I used my phone normally for a full day (light-moderate use, chat a little, texting here and there, streamed 1 youtube video, read some articles on BBC/9gag) and got down to 28% in 13 hours (which is is still not as good before I full customized the phone).

I'm not very tech-savvy and was hoping someone could look at the screenshots below and let me know if something seems out of place?

Welcome to Android Central! Nothing looks too unusual there. It might help if you do the following: Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Show us the screens from the system menu, not from GSam.

Try Floatify instead of NiLs. I find it a better notification app and it doesn't drain my battery. Your on screen time is pretty low. You should try Power Saver on and see the difference.

Hi P Diddy,

Please see attached for my screenshots, anything that looks off? It seems like Nova Launcher is taking up a lot of battery...and for the GSAM Battery Screenshots, is it normal for the Android system and Kernal to be taking up most of the apps battery %?

You can't base anything on 20% of battery usage. You need 20% battery life left.

Exactly--use it down until you have about 20-30% battery left, then post the screenshots.

Something is keeping the phone constantly awake from 6 PM onward, which is probably contributing to battery drain. Tap some of the top battery-using apps and see how much awake time they're contributing.

I'm sorry but how do I do that? I tapped on some of the Apps but some have "Screen On" and some have "Keep Awake". I noticed Google Calendar have "Keep awake" of 19 min 27s and it's the 2nd biggest draining app. I just used Greenify on it and the drain on my battery has suddenly slowed. Maybe that's it???

Sorry, I'm not used to the M8's battery stats. I got a chance to look at my wife's M8 just now. Look under the "All Time" screen, and tap Nova Launcher and Android System, for starters. Some apps will show a "Keep awake" stat--that's what I'm interested in. I'm wondering what kept your phone awake for about 5 straight hours starting around 6 PM.

I've been using Nils for some time but my battery has not been the greatest since 4.4.3. Now on 4.4.4 but it doesn't seem to be any better. I never thought that Nils would have contributed to this that much. Maybe I'll uninstall it and use the phone without for a bit then try Floatify as claimed above it doesn't hit the battery as hard. Is it confirmed that either one is good/bad on the battery. Bummer my battery took such a hit since 4.4.3. It was impressive until then.

I used each for over a month. Floatify is much better with respect battery life. I also find it to be a better app in general as well but that is subjective.
