phone answering problem

I need to answer my phone (nexus 5) as quickly as possible. Sometimes when I try to do this the phone answering part is blocked by a bunch of windows that I frantically try to get rid of to get to the answer part. Sometimes there is a box on top that allows me to answer it sometimes there is not. sometimes I get all the way down and the answer part is gone but the phone is still ringing. If I tap the phone icon it doesn't help. It's very frustrating. Maybe I would be better off with a flip phone.

Welcome to Android Central! What windows are you referring to? When someone calls, the screen should be replaced by the incoming call screen, prompting you to swipe to the right to answer or the left to reject. If you happen to be doing something else with the phone, the call might show up as a banner notification at the top of the screen, with buttons for Answer or Decline. There should never be windows on top of the incoming call screen. Do they look like popup ads or something?

A screenshot would be very helpful: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ide-how-post-screenshots-android-central.html

Re: phone answering problem

It typically occurs while I am busy bicycling two dogs. I have to stop the bike, hang on to two dogs and fumble around getting my phone out of my pocket quickly before it goes to voice mail. Now that I think of it it only happens when I'm fumbling in an awkward great rush and inadvertently opening a bunch of windows. Sometimes I clean everything off so I'm down to the wallpaper and it's still ringing but there is no way to answer it.

Re: phone answering problem

Could it be the notification panel that you inadvertently swiped down, showing a bunch of notifications you haven't cleared yet? Or perhaps the Recent Apps screen?

Re: phone answering problem

Swiping up doesn't get rid of them. it just seems like multiple windows on top of each other. sometime the top notification box gives me the option of answer or dismiss, then when I hit answer the phone answering screen comes up and I can answer it. sometimes I clear everything off and I'm stuck with just the wallpaper and no way to answer the ringing phone. If I hit the phone icon it doesn't help. I don't have any applications running while I'm bicycling that I know of. My phone is set up so I only pay for actual phone calls: no data plan at all.
