Can I get some help with a problem with the camera - zoomed photos?

Problem with camera - zoomed photos.

I recently bought my husband a Galaxy III phone, the camera had to be changed due to damage/dirt on the lens, the new camera takes good photos until you use the zoom then the photos blur, have lines & double, shop says it's a software problem as if you reduce the resolution you can zoom in a little with no problem but zoom in fully & the problem returns. They also say it's a new camera so are reluctant to replace it.:'(
Software is upto date.

Have you tried to install a different camera app like "Google Camera" and see if the same issue occurs? if it does then it won't be a software issue.

Google camera isn't compatible with the device but tried another camera app. Results are the same.

It has to be the hardware! I would fight to get it checked again.

Will do so. At least they extended the warranty until the next software update.

Further update have now exchanged the S 3 for a Galaxy S3 neo which works perfectly.

Update: Downloaded the Camera Zoom app & that app zooms in with no problems with the photos.
