Problems with an unlocked ATT HTC One M8

Hello,
I purchased an unlocked AT&T HTC One M8 from my friend in US and took it back to my home country, India. Phone is certainly unlocked as I am able to use it with a local carrier, Vodafone.

Problems:
1. Not yet received Lollipop update. Can it be due to phone being in different country now? I checked using AT&T Software Update option but nothing is there. How do I get latest Android L, rolled out by AT&T more than a month back

2. I am not able to enable WiFi Hotspot. Everytime I try it gives an error message "There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enablement of the Mobile Hotspot function. Please retry later

3. Camera app stops functioning. Faced it many a times, I click on camera app, it starts but show a black screen for 1-2 secs and then off. I have to restart the phone to use the app

Experts.....please help me, provide some solution to above problems. Thanks much!

Re: Problems with an unlocked ATT HTC One M8

Welcome to Android Central! System updates for a carrier-specific phone are usually pushed by the carrier, so if you switch carriers, you won't get that update. You could flash the firmware via Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html. Find the correct firmware (based on the exact model number) here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

I think the native wi-fi hotspot is tied in with the AT&T data plan. So if you're not using AT&T any more, the native hotspot probably won't work.

Regarding the camera app, try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10853. If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.

If that doesn't help, try wiping the cache partition: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...ow-reboot-into-stock-recovery-htc-one-m8.html

Re: Problems with an unlocked ATT HTC One M8

I had the same problem with my unlocked AT&T M8 that I'm using on T-Mobile's network. I fixed this by buying a go phone SIM card and activating. then install it in the phone and check for updates. I downloaded all my updates this way. If it tells you none is available just manually change the date and it will check for the update automatically and download them. Once downloaded just swap sim and u are good to go.

Re: Problems with an unlocked ATT HTC One M8

Also just get the 10 dollar plan , pay as u go so that u don't lose too much money.

Re: Problems with an unlocked ATT HTC One M8

That's a clever solution!

Thank you B Diddy and TechGod for responses, appreciate them!

My camera issue is resolved now, resolution: I was using task cleaner which prompted to kill the app and thus crashing it. Stopped using it and camera functions normally now.

Hotspot issue: Need some help. If I am not on AT&T, is there no way I can use hotspot? Is there any other app I can make use of.

Lollipop update: I am not in USA, will AT&T Go sim work outside of USA. Please advise. I can ask someone to get it for me in India.

Not sure buddy. If you have an AT&T service by you I guess it will work. Or maybe As long as you have a AT&T SIM card in and on Wi-Fi you should be able to update. Maybe turn on roaming while on Wi-Fi. I was never able to get the hotspot working on mine.
