"Bricked" Phone - Here is what I've tried... SCREENSHOTS included

I am having a hell of a time with my phone (VS980). The only changes I have done are root the phone and the hotspot mod. I did both of these about a year ago. After the hot spot mod I have not been able to update the phone, OTAs fail, but other than that the phone has worked fine. Yesterday morning the phone froze and restarted itself. Now it just stays on the LG screen not matter what I do.

I have tried to do a factory data reset by holding down the - volume and the power button and once again when the LG screen pops up but it either freezes or I get the android with a red exclamation point. I am able to access the download mode but both the TOT and KDZ method do not work. Attached are the screenshots for the problems that I am having with the factory data reset, TOT method, and KDZ method. I am not sure where to go from here... I would appreciate any advice you guys may have.

Did you update USB drivers? And why are you using LG support tool?

I am using the "USB Driver for Windows" VS980 that I found on LG's website. When I tried the KDZ method I used the LG flash tool 2014 and while going through that process the LG support tool pops up.

Edit* I think the LG flash tool 2014 and the LG support tool may be one in the same thing. Not sure though.

Yeah, you don't need LG support tool if you're using LG flash tool. Whenever I had issues unbricking a G2 I uninstalled LG USB drivers, and then installed most recent LG united mobile drivers and universal adb drivers, then everything worked fine.

What instructions/guide are you using? XDA has the most detailed instructions.

Alright, with the LG Verizon United Driver I have a problem where it fails to install the LGE AndroidNet for VZW USB Modem. I uninstalled the LG united driver and then tried the ADB installer and received the following error which you can see in the attached images.

Reason 101 that I am so glad I don't feel the need to "root" any of my phones. Causes more headaches than it's worth (IMO).

I was finally able to get the TOT method working by using my laptop instead of my desktop. My desktop OS is Windows 7 -64bit and my laptop is Windows 8.1 -64bit.

I went through the initial setup process for android but I did not enter in my Google information. I didn't enter my Google information so that my backup apps would not sync with my phone. I wanted to leave the phone as stock as possible to see if it had anymore freezing and restarting issues.

Well, within about 10 minutes the phone started freezing and restarting again; to the point where it was not able to get past the LG screen... Now I am not able to get past the LG screen at all. The phone is completely stock now, it's not rooted and its running VS98010B so I don't think it is a software issue anymore.

I put the phone in a zip lock bag and put it in between two cold packs. I waited about 15 minutes and powered it up again. It booted straight to the android homepage with no problem. The damn phone is overheating... As long as I have it on an ice pack it works fine but once I take it off it starts to freeze and reboot with 5 to 10 minutes. I would take the phone back to Verizon but I am outside of the 1 year warranty now by 1 month haha what a coincidence

I have never had as many problems with any other smartphone, when it comes to troubleshooting, as I've had with the LG G2. I miss my Galaxy Nexus:'(... Damn you Verizon! Bring back the Nexus line!
