Questions about "launchers" for LG G3 w/Lollipop

While reading about this new update, I've noticed several people mention launchers, stock and otherwise. Are these safe? Do they slow down your system? And, most importantly for me--do they let you customize the lock screen?? I've lost the ability to have widgets on my lock screen, and customize it the way I had before Lollipop. I'm wondering if a different launcher would help.

I haven't heard of any that aren't, since Android first came out. Some are - IMO - pretty useless, but none of them are unsafe.

Do they slow down your system?
No more than the default one you're running now. (The home page is the launcher. So is the app drawer.) Some are a bit faster, some a bit slower. It usually works out that he ones with more features are a little slower than the ones with fewer features. Not by much, though.

And, most importantly for me--do they let you customize the lock screen??
No, you'd need a lock screen app for that. The lock screen and the launcher are separate apps.

I don't particularly care for most of the stock launchers - Samsung and LG are about the same and pretty blah. I always put Nova Launcher on any new phone, because I've been usng it for years and prefer it to anything else. (I usually try anything new that comes out, but I end up back with Nova.)

I use the smallest launcher available, zeam launcher its has the smallest app size and very simple.
Makes any phone faster for what it does, as for the lock screen you have to download another one.
A launcher can be dangerous but there is a risk with everything you download, for the most part they are safe but some require a tremendous amount of permissions, zeam doesn't.
