Can I get the EVO this way.....?

Sign my gf on to my plan....get her the EVO....then switch her phone number out to my phone (Palm Pre) and end her contract after like a week? Will I be able to keep my Pre and the EVO by doing this?

Yeah if you are adding a line you can do that. But if you swap phones before 30 days that will invalidate the mail-in rebate so do it at either Best Buy or Radio Shack where the rebates are instant.

And when you say end her contract after a week are you referring to her own current account or the line would have just gotten? The line you just got would have a 2 year contract so if you try ending that line you'll have to pay $200 to end it early.

If you cancel service on the new line during the first thirty days, there is no Early Termination Fee. However, you would have to return the EVO to the store (or ship it back to Sprint if ordered via sprint.com or telesales) or else you would be charged full price for it on your bill.

Oh, no, that would not work. When you get her a line you are signing a 2-year contract. You have the option to cancel within 30 days but would also have to return the phone.

Dang...looks like I'm getting a Hero then so I can have both webOS and access to the apps in the Android Market, like Google goggles and wait for the EVO until December. Thanks

You could sell your pre and put it towards an Evo. Otherwise just find a used Android phone on Ebay or Craigslist and tether it to your Pre using Mobile Hotspot. Did that with my Moment for a while.
