Can I keep my device if I switch over to Verizon even if its from a different carrier?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 from U.S. Cellular, but I want to switch carriers and keep the same device I have now. Would I need to get and entirely new cell phone device or is there a way I can keep my device while having a different carrier provide service to it, even if I did not buy it from their store?

If I'm correct, the S8 has both CDMA and GSM radios, so it should work on any carrier that uses LTE bands 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 18(800), 19(800), 25(1900), 38(2600), 39(1900) or 40(2300).

The phone has to be unlocked, but according to this page, all US Cellular phones sold since 2/16 have been sold unlocked.
