Hi all,

Just a quick question for me, i have the GN2 with Go launcher which i really enjoy, my only real bug bear so far is the lock screen.

ideally i would have it be horizontal rather than vertical but i can live without this, what i really need though is to be able to very quickly launch the camera app. now i know you can do this with the screen lock with the rotate feature but it doesn't work if you have a passcode lock, my old iphone would launch the camera and only allow access to the camera and photos taken in that session before then needing the unlock code, any way of doing this with the note 2?

any help greatly appreciated

There is a way to open camera just buy lighting screen and with your thumb on screen turn your phone landscape,, automatically opens camera. . You may have to turn this feature on in settings,, i don't remember.

Note 2, it's true, ,size is everything!

Yes it's in the setting. I have it set up on my Note 2.

yes, i have that setting turned on but as i use a passcode lock on my phone it first prompts me to enter the code, which is very frustrating when wanting that 'quick' shot. any ideas?

Hmmm,, I have no idea. I was not sure about the lock code thing because I don't lock my phone. Thats a tricky one because if you lock your phone you don't want anyone to get into it but even getting into your camera is getting into your phone. I'm not sure this is possible,, defeats the whole lock code thing to begin with.

i agree, but as with the iphone it allowed quick access only to the camera before it needed the passcode which I'm happy with security wise

Ahhhh, I see. I know very little about iphone. I hope there is a way for you to do this. If there is I'm certain it will require rooting.

My Note 2 has a lock code and I can still access the camera without entering my code. Actually, I access my camera without even going to the lock code page.
I just wake up my phone, and instead of swiping to go to the lock code page. I press and hold the screen while turning the phone to Landscape mode. Then the camera opens up.
Quick and easy.
Check your settings again, maybe you missed a step?

That's what I figured. Thats what I told him in the second post. I was stumped as to why it was not working for him.

I would love to know this also. I tap and hod the screen whole rotating the phone and the lock pattern appears... After I trace my pattern the camera opens up but only after the phone is unlocked.

would love to figure this one out!

I followed the instructions..but still failed. I pressed the home button..and got the button shortcut appeared. I pressed n hold the shortcut n swipe away while rotating. Next the pattern lock screen appears..Am I missing something??

I still have not gotten it to work. Good thing I have other devices to take that fast picture I need to take.

I actually posted this same exact thread (but in the AT&T forum)..

this is the only feature from the iPhone that I truly miss.. I hate missing kodak moments of my kids :P but at the same time love having the passcode on there so they don't delete important pictures/apps (they've done that on accident before lol)

I agree.. is it an android problem or touchwiz? Wish they could get it fixed either way.

It's not an android or touchwiz problem... Mine works perfectly and I have a passcode for my Note2.
Check your settings.
There are 2 type of Lock Screen: Screen time out and Secured lock time.
Make sure your Secured lock time is not on "Instantly with the power key or when the screen times out."
I have mine on 30 mins which is the most it'll allow.
If yours is on "Instantly..." or even "15 secs", your phone will Securely Lock which requires the Pass Code.

Hope this helps!

But I wantwant to know that if I set my phone down no one can get in to it so I have mine set to 15 second and the camera will not work. Has to be a fix for this.

The point is that once the device truly locks (even if it is set to 30 minutes), you will not have quick access to the camera at that point. You will have to enter your pin/password at that point before the camera becomes available. I have mine set for 15 minutes, but I can't plan for my kids to have one of their "candid" moment during that 15 minutes. Inevitably, it's always after the time has passed and my phone is securely locked.
I'm hoping Android 4.2 resolves it as one of the items listed as New is "Access camera straight from your phone?s lock screen." However, I'm not sure it Touchwiz will negate it or not.
