Hey guys, this may be a dumb question, but a while back I unlocked my phone but couldn't figure out how to flash a new rom, so just left it like it was. I was wondering if I would still get the update, or would I be screwed.

The phone does have the superuser app, or whatever that is, I havent figured out how to remove it. Obviously, I'm not very tech savvy with cell phones, lol.

My current software number is 1.02.605.6

Thanks in advance.

Since you had to lock to receive the previous OTA I'm assuming the next will be the same...whenever that comes...

*Fighting the urge to slam the OTA rumor*

I was under the impression once you unlocked you couldn't go back and relock.

Ya, I'm not getting my hopes up for a release; but the truth is I never plan on flashing my phone, so I might as well get it to where I can atleast attain updates, so I'm not left in the stone age.

You can relocation after unlocking.

Technically you are being left in the stone age. The people that root/ROM(myself included) have been on ICS since early Jan. Really since all of the leaks have been in RUU form, it hasn't even been exclusive to the unlocked crowd. However, if you weigh then risk vs the benefits personally and come up with not wanting to unlock/ROM then more power to you brother(or sister)

Don't get me wrong, I would love to be running on ICS, rooted or unrooted. I'm just completely ignorant on how to do it. I've tried, but had little success. The biggest headache for me is that my ONLY source for internet is tethering with my phone, so I have problems when it comes to reading a web page, while simultaneously jacking with my phone.

I just figured I would be more likely to update via verizon, rather than relying on myself.

Then don't do it until you have access to another internet source so that if things do go wrong, you have help somewhat close by

Not to pat myself on the back but the guide in the rooting/roming section is pretty good.

I won't root for 2 main reasons : 1. It seems unnecessarily complicated for little benefit. And 2. I like to rent movies from the Play store, which I cannot do if I am rooted.

I'm not gonna bash anyone who does and I'm sure there are people who do get benefits from rooting. But it ain't for me.

Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk 2.

you can watch movies on play even if you are rooted. There's an app called voodoo OTA I think that let you temporary UN root, and I've watched movies on my phone with play.
