Can I save my Nexus?!?

Long story short, I accidentally deleted everything, including the OS, off of my Nexus 7 2012 while in TWRP recovery. It isn't recognized by ADB of fastboot, so I bought a flash drive that can plug into the Nexus, put the Android 5.0 factory image on it (straight from Google) and compressed it into a .zip to flash or "install" it, but every time I try, it just says install failed. Again, I'm using TWRP recovery. Am I doing something wrong? HELP PLEASE!

Welcome to the forums. Are your drivers up to date?

Edit: You could try a toolkit. A couple are on XDA.

My drivers are up to date, and I have tried the WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit, are there any other specific ones that might work better?

Probably, but wugfresh was what I had in mind.
