I would like to setup local hotspot using Nexus 7 and wireless router so kids/wife can use their devices wirelessly tethered to my Nex 7 (just one account setup) while on vacation.

Is this possible?

Why can't they just connect to the router? :what:

(edit) Perhaps I'm not understanding your question. Which Nexus 7, the Wi-Fi only model, or the 32GB 3G model?

It is Nexus 7 without 3G...this is just for when family is traveling.

I can preset up the Nexus 7 hotspot (with security) on the other devices (3 iPhones and 3 iPads) and then only have to login/connect (1) device to hotel wireless system. The others can tether off my Nexus. Makes life a lot simpler than having them individually connect (which is how I've been doing if no way to do this). Also most hotels have limit on number of login passwords, generally one/user but each family member has at least (2) devices...all of which I can preset up if I can use the Nex 7 as a hotspot.

first your question was confusing. your second post cleared it a bit.

If i understood it right you need to connect your Nexus 7 to Hotel wifi and make it hotspot so that your wife and kids can connect to that wifi.

if so then Yes you can do it in settings hotspot or use app called Foxifi

There is an app called Open Garden which could be worth looking at too.
