Taking Black and White Pictures

Greetings: I'm a former black and white photographer and would like to use my phone, since film is all but dead where I live. Is there a setting where I can change my screen to monochrome when viewing, before taking a picture? I know it's possible to change it once the picture is taken, but I want to view it in that way before I take the pic.

Thanks all..

I don't know of a way with the stock camera app, but you could try something like this: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ls?id=gt.appija.bwcamera&hl=en&token=SHslW5wK

There's an app called Blackcam that I use. They have different types if B&W pic settings.

Look in the camera app settings thee should be an effects option, click it and I believe there is a black and white option there and it will show you live effects

Yeah that works. I didn't see it the first time because you have to be in HDR mode for the effects option to be enabled. I found one called "Grayscale" that seems to do the trick.

Me too. Thanks guys. Now, another question. The resolution when shooting with the grey-scale setting is incredibly grainy. Can this be remedied?

Re: Taking Black and White Pictures

Galaxy apps filters/ucam filters u found the gray scale option. The galaxy app store will add additional filters a wide variety of them to the stock camera no additional apps needed. Xcuse me if someone already mentioned this

If you want it to be 100% quality the best way is to take it in color and make it black and white in photoshop or something similar. Every app that uses the camera seems to degrade the image quality (at least from my experience)

You don't have to be in HDR mode for effects to work, just tap it and you are in. If you go a few effects toward the end you will also find black & white which also works..

"Effects" is grayed out...does something in particular have to be enabled first?
