I rooted my G3 and now the Lollipop update is available. Can I download and install it like normal?

Rooting normally blocks OTA updates. You would have to unroot the device in order to accept it.

Now that you're rooted, perhaps you can take steps to flash a lollipop ROM instead?

You can just flash Lollipop ROM for your phone. It is available online. Also, I will suggest try "Chupachup" or "Resurrection Remix" for your phone as substitutes for Stock Lollipop. These two improve performance of G3 to a different level.

I have no experience flashing ROMs. How do I go about doing that?

Google my friend. Google. There are multiple apps that allow you flashing ROMs directly from phone. No computer or extra technical stuff needed. You can have step by step tutorial on xda. Kindly check.

Check out "eric4mobile"on YouTube. He has a guide for rooting, installing a custom recovery (TWRP), and on how to flash a ROM. Very, very easy to do once you watch rise videos. Just make sure the ROM you download is for YOUR device model. As long as you follow his guides and make sure your downloading things for your device model, you'll be fine

Good luck!

So apparently my previous attempts to unroot the device actually worked! I had no clue. Don't think I will be rooting phones anymore. Upgrade installed! Thanks for all your help guys. This forum is the best.
