If they work like the ones over here probably not. The data cards need proprietary software on the machine using them to set up a connection and it's doubtful anyone is writing that software for Android. If a hotspot isn't and option you may try pairing a card with something like a Cradlepoint router. They are designed to work with most of the major cards out there. I'm assuming by card you mean a usb dongle. I will say the hotspot is probably going to be a more economical option though. Routers that can use the usb dongles are usually kind of expensive. Battery life on the hotspots really shouldn't be and issue. Your going to get just as much life out of one of those as you would from just the tablet if you could plug a single into it. Remember, even if someone does write the software you need, the dongle is going to affect battery life on the tablet probably significantly and you won't be able to charge the tablet while it's connected. The hotspot can be connected to just about anything with a USB port and charging while it's in use with the noted exception being the tablet. If you have a computer if some kind available where you will be using the tablet you could use a dongle with it and share its connection with your tablet using Internet connection sharing but that's only going to work if you are using the tablet in a static location.
