Can I use a Virgin Sierra Wireless Overdrive Pro wifi as a hotspot wifi for Nexus 7

I have read a great deal about things that work and won't work...rooting and the like-at this point I am confused. This is a mobile broadband 3/4G modem. Can I use this device (by rooting or whatever) to make a wifi hotspot for my Nexus & Tablet?

You shouldn't have to root to use it. It's a mobile hotspot, your tablet should connect to it like any other wifi network.

Ok...good! I have read so much and there is something about the modem being set at 2.5 or it doesn't work...also certain types of mobile broadband modems being used...adhocks..... I was hoping I was overthinking it.
