Can I use an sd card as internal storage on my LG G6?

I want to use my sd card as internal storage on my LG G6. I read somewhere that LG had disabled this function on this phone but that there was a workaround. My phone is brand new and not rooted. I know next to nothing about the tech side of mobiles and would not be able to root it (wouldn't want to either if I'm honest), so can anyone give me advice on how to achieve my goal. Thanks.

You might be thinking of this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875. Doesn't require root but it does require hooking it up to your computer and using adb, which is not something most people will want to bother with.

I don't really like the idea of doing this though for two reasons, which may persuade you as well.

1. I've had a couple SD cards fail over the years but never had any internal memory corruption problems on any cell phone. I hate the idea of using a less reliable medium for internal storage. If the SD card gets used by the phone expecting it to always be there, what will happen if it suddenly goes away? If it dies and everything on it is self-contained, I know I can pull it out and the phone is not going to be majorly confused about what used to be there (and yes I keep my SD card contents backed up elsewhere as well as I can). Hopefully I expressed that concept right.

2. SD cards will typically be slower than your internal storage, and I don't like the idea of slowing down some of my phone's internal storage. Right now I store files, pictures, videos and such on my SD card, things that are not speed-intensive like app storage.
