Re: can i use my verizon lg g3 vs985 in africa by 3G UMTS 2100 BANDS DATA
If that's the only band your carrier uses, it may work. I'm finding 2 sets of specs, depending on whether I'm looking for Verizon G3 or vs985.
The Verizon G3 specs say it supports 3G on 850 (Americas, Oceania, Brazil, Israel), 1900 PCS band 2 (Americas) and 2100 IMT (which is the basic 3G standard, which includes the 1900 uplink/2100 downlink frequencies - it's called UMTS 2100) band 1 (Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania, Brazil, India, Israel).
The vs985 specs say different things, depending on where you look. I've seen GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850 (B5), UMTS1900 (B2), UMTS2100 (B1) on one site and 3G bands - CDMA2000 1xEV-DO - 4G bands - LTE 700 / 1700 / 2100 on another. Check with the carrier. (The underlined data would probably be what you'd need for it to work.)
It also does 900/1800 2G, so you should get voice and text too.
(The phone will have to be SIM-unlocked [AFAIK, all Verizon phones are], but if not, they'll unlock the phone if you're going out of the Americas [if it's currently on one of their plans], and you'll need a SIM from your African carrier.)
