can I use my X in Canada via WiFi?

I have a DroidX on Verizon here in WA. I'll be traveling to Vancouver, BC next month for a few days. Can I access email and the internet via wi-fi in Canada while disabling the wireless via airplane mode?
It would be nice to be able to access bus schedules, etc. while there.

Verizon doesn't show the X as a mobile phone, thus the question.

Using Airplane Mode will disable all transmit/receive functionality in your phone, including WiFi. Simply disabling Mobile Data and making sure Roaming is off will make sure that the phone does not use data on your 3G connection. And using WiFi will be perfectly fine, as no devices care where they are while on WiFi.
