Can it be carrier unlocked?

I really like the build quality and size of the First. Only problem is I'm on t-mobile. Can this phone be unlocked and if so how. I checked gsm unlock codes website but they didn't have any codes for the phone yet.

just fyi i called AT&T, they will unlock it for you if you buy it outright (providing you're a customer in good standing and no contract)

Good to know, but I was planing on purchasing it on eBay, then unlocking and then activate it on T-Mobile. I hate to spend the money on one just to find our that it doesn't work. I'll give them a shout as well.

Yes and no. It has the bands for T-Mobile's refarmed 1900 so there is 4G there.

LTE 700/1700 (bands 4/17)
HSPA+ 850/1900/2100
GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900

So would there be a negative. What's the worst that could happen? With the Nexus i get HSPA. With the S4 I get 4G(not LTE)
