I can no longer download images sent in Messages. I now get an icon that says TAP TO DOWNLOAD. However, nothing happens. I can't figure out what's been changed but I am guessing I did something. Please help!

Verizon is the carrier. What do you mean by "reboot the device"? Do you mean to turn it off and back on or something else? If it is something else please explain what to try. Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! That usually means there's an issue with MMS. Is mobile data turned on? MMS requires mobile data to be on.

Normally I would also recommend checking your APN settings to make sure they're correct for Verizon, but I think Verizon doesn't let the user view nor edit the APN settings on their phones.

You might also try the Reset Network Settings option in the system settings.

How do I check if mobile data is turned on? What does APN settings stand for? How do I reset network settings?

To check if mobile data is on, swipe down your Quick Settings panel and see if the Mobile Data toggle is turned on.

APN settings are important to make sure the phone is able to utilize internet and MMS on the carrier: https://www.androidcentral.com/what-apn-and-how-do-i-change-it. If you got the phone directly from Verizon, it shouldn't be an issue. However, sometimes if you bring a phone from a different carrier to a new carrier, the APN settings might be wrong.

You can always do a search in your system setting for an option if you can't find it easily. Go to your system settings, tap the magnifying glass at the upper right, then type "Reset Network Settings." It's in the Settings>General Management>Reset menu.

Mobile Data is turned on. I just performed a Network Reset, thanks for the directions. I will see if that takes care of the issue.

If resetting the network settings doesn't help, then the next step may be to contact Verizon and see if there's something on their end they need to do.
