can someone confirm if BT tether works?

Some Motorola phones can tether to the xoom via Bluetooth I was curious if it is possible with the bionic because my thunderbolt can't do it. The directions are as follows, and thanks in advance this is the only place I come for android tips and help.

1: on XOOM, go to settings>wireless & networks>tethering and portable hotspot and make sure that "Bluetooth Tethering" is UNCHECKED, this is NOT what we want

2: on XOOM, go to settings>wireless & networks> enable airplane mode

3: on XOOM, go to settings>wireless & networks> enable bluetooth

4: on your android phone, go to settings>wireless & networks (or equivalent)> enable bluetooth

5: Make sure that both devices are discoverable, so that they can see one another, should be in settings>wireless & networks>bluetooth settings

6: on XOOM, go to settings>wireless & networks>bluetooth settings>select your phone in order to pair it with your XOOM

7: a box should pop up on both devices, select Pair on both devices

8: on XOOM, once the pairing is complete (still inside bluetooth settings), select the phone, it should say paired but not connected underneath it

9: The two devices should connect, once connected there should be a wrench next to the connected device, clicking on this will show an option to tether, click this option if it is not automatically enabled

10: TA-DA, if it worked then in the bottom right hand corner of your XOOM should have two bluetooth icons, one should indicated that your bluetooth is turned on and the other should say bluetooth tethered, you are now using your phones internet data plan on your XOOM, aka not counting towards your xoom's data plan

this worked with my Droid X and sadly yesterday i tried it with my Bionic and its connected and everything but the XOOM doesnt connect to the net.
Time to Root this Bionic :tup:

I've been trying the same thing between my Bionic and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Someone else said they got that working, but despite getting everything set up right (as far as I can tell), the Tab doesn't seem to recognize that it can snag data from the Bionic.

I appreciate the reply's and I broke down and bought the bionic and decided to try the Bluetooth tether and it works just fine for me with my Xoom

That was the first thing I tried last thursday. Now I'm not AS mad about the 3G/4G upgrade delay. Still pretty pissed, but as long as I can tether my 4G to it for the time being, it will cool me off for a little.

I did this @ a VZW store with their Bionic and my Xoom, no joy. The 2 devices would pair but unable to she the internet.

yes it definitely does. bionic supplies the data. my bionic has unlimited data, the zoom doesn't. when we get near the xoom's data limit we bt tether to the bionic.

I seem to recall reading in the Xoom forum that if it doesn't work you should try rebooting the Xoom after you pair the Xoom and phone for it to work. I haven't tried it in a while on mine because I have a MiFi from work that I usually use, but I seem to recall having to reboot after I put the Xoom in airplane mode.

If I need mobile internet on my Xoom, I just pull the sim out of my Bionic, stick it in my Xoom, and life is good!

I tried this and it says they are tethered via bluetooth (my asus eee pad transformer and my droid x) however it does not appear to be working. My tablet says Paired devices DroidX - connected.There are 2 bluetooth symbols at the bottom and one says tethered. However if i look on my phone under bluetooth settings it shows Transformer TF101 connect to panu? What is panu? is that my phone?

Has anyone gotten this to work on that pair of devices? or is there any other options to tether them? I have easy tether and used it the other day with my computer when I had no internet and it worked fine. However since the tablet doesn't have a usb port unless you get the keyboard, I can't do it with my tablet. I am very surprised and frankly not happy that there is no usb port on the tablet itself. I didn't even think to look into it when I got it... just pretty much assumed it would have one.
