can the battery of my note edge have burned out

i had a good 77% battery but when i took my phone out, it just shut down for no reason and hasn't come up yet. could it be the battery?

Welcome to Android Central! It's possible. Try plugging it into a wall outlet for at least 4-6 hours without disturbing it, then try to power it on again. If that doesn't help, then try a new battery. You can confirm a problem with the current one by removing it, placing it flat on a table, and trying to spin it. If it spins freely, it's bulging in the middle, which is a bad sign. But lack of spin doesn't rule out a battery problem.

If you habitually let the battery drain close to zero before charging it up, that could reduce its overall lifespan. In general, try to start charging when it's down to about 30-40%.
