can the search button on the Rezound be disabled?

Hi there,

I'm finding the Google search button on my Rezound seems to be more annoying than helpful. I've now had Google search pop up a number of times because apparently I'm touching that "button" and not realizing it. I can do without a working button in that lower right corner of my phone so is there a way to disable it? Rooting responses are not necessary, I'm not a rooter.
