My wife is due for an upgrade from the SG8 to the 10. Can you bypass setting up the fingerprint sensor and just turn on the phone via the power button?

It isn't for security reasons, more for ease and quick access to the phone. She runs a busy day home and doesn't want to fiddle around with the fingerprint if a parent is trying to get a hold of her.

Yes. Or you can use Face Unlock which is much quicker and less secure.

Yeah you could have no lock if you wanted it that way.

Now days it seems almost everyone wears some sort of bluetooth device on their wrists(fitbit, garmin, smartwatch, etc). My wife and I both do, and setup smart lock to unlock automatically when the device is connected. I also have smart lock setup to unlock automatically at home (trusted place), and also when in my car, when the bluetooth connection to the car is active. With just those three things, it pretty much always unlocks automatically, yet if the device is lost or stolen, will stay locked.

I'd still suggest setting up a fingerprint for apps that require logon's, etc. a real time saver in my opinion.
