Ill make this short. I have the Razr M. I am rooted. How can I hide the soft keys so that I can make full use of the screen?

Thanks

I don't think so - not sure if there is a launcher that would give that option. I use Nova and I hide the notification bar and the dock with no wallpaper and just simi clock and it is nice and clean...

Could you post a screenshot

Thanks. I would really like to get the bottom part of the screen. I know it was done on the Nexus at some point. I didnt know if there was a way to edit it in the system settings or something

I'm almost certain that would require root

Where did you see it done on a nexus? Could you post a link please?

Onscreen buttons has got to be the single biggest design error Google has made, simply horrible.

I disagree completely. Physical buttons add bulk to the phone and can break or wear out. Soft buttons disappear when launching apps.

Like notrega said, they disappear in apps that need the full screen.
No they don't. Video content does, but apps do not, or at least I've never seen an APP that hides the button bar. I'd be much happier with it if the menu disappears in all apps and returned with swipe motion.

Right. If I could swipe it on and off like ADW let's me do with my dock I would be satisfied.

I like it because when the phone is off it looks good, but I would love to have the option to hide them completely and pressing power button or a swipe gesture
Would make them pop up when needed.

Youtube does (which I appreciate), but that's the only app I've seen so far that hides them. I'd like it if the buttons would get hidden by Chrome. You'd think Google would write that into the Chrome code, since they are the ones promoting both the softkeys and the use of Chrome as stock browser. Also the stock gallery app. To me, there's no excuse for these stock Android apps to have built-in functionality around that. It's kind of weird how the Gallery app turns the icons into dots but still uses up the space.

I can't say I hate the softkeys. The experience of using them is smooth and nice. I just wish the OS was a little more flexible about how and when they're displayed.

Wow, that's impressive. I usually get about 10 with what I would call moderate use. I thought I'd followed all the battery saving steps. I'll have to go back and reread those posts.

I agree they are too creative not to do any of this.
